ArGh!!

So I was messing with my phone Saturday morning. A different subject would be why the hell can't I sleep past 8am, even on days off, and purposefully staying awake late the night before. Anyway. I went just one step too far, with my quest to learn XML, and screwed something up. The actual phone part of my phone was missing. How messed up is that? Everything else seemed to work, but when I clicked the phone button, it flashed to that screen, then it disappeared. So I spent a few hours trying to figure out what I had done, and gave up.

Around noon I headed into town to find a sprint store with a service dept and see if they could just reformat the phone, as in wipe everything off of it, and retore it back to OEM settings. After finding one, I scrapped that plan when they said it was a 40 min wait to talk to someone. In my opinion, that is unacceptable, and I work for the same company. So I grabbed some lunch, ran an errand, went back home and back to the phone drawing board. But before I messed with the phone I decided to do a few things around the house. I recently got rid of the extra furniture in the second stall of my garage, and now it is solely occupied by my motorcycle (ok, not completely the only thing) so I swept the space out, then raked up all the leaves on the side of the house and bagged them.

After chatting with the neighbor's wife, their oldest kid and that kid's girlfriend for a bit, I went back in for a shower and to relax.

Back to fixing my phone....

I remembered the last software update they released resulted in a total reset, so I figured it was worth a try. A few hours later, I was looking at my phone, with everything gone :-(

Even later, and I had most of my applications back, and my contacts restored.

Anyway, here is what it looks like right now.
If you recall the last image, I have changed it a little more.
XML is very much like HTML, which I used to be pretty decent at, and I am mostly tweaking other people's existing skin files. I have been mixing together their coding with what I want, and arranging the screen how I want. It is allot of trial and error. For example if you want button # 5 in a certain spot, you need the X and Y coordinates. You could try X=10, Y = 100, and if that was wrong, keep adjusting til it's right. (X is horizontal, Y is vertical)

The latest thing I got working was the appointments, and task windows, which update with, you guessed it, tasks and appointments.
Below that, if you tap the 'Calls' icon you are taken to the Call History (the number indicates missed calls)
Next is text messages,
Finally Voicemal. This is a cool trick too, if you tap that phone, you will automatically dial your voice mail box.
Ok, I need to stop for now, lots work to do on Monday's.
As always, please leave comments.
