I have seen these signs popping up at various other locations and every time I chuckle. The sign is a picture of a handgun, and the circle with the slash around it, aka NO Guns Allowed.
Honestly, what idiot needs this sign to inform them they can't pack heat at the office? If someone were to go proverbially 'postal' do the geniuses who created this sign, or the idiots who actually bought one for every door into every building on campus (I work on a campus) think that the above mentioned nutcase would stop when they see that sign, and decide they don't want to break the No Guns Allowed rule, then turn around and go home?
I mean honestly, just because you have a No Smoking sign, what actually prevents me from lighting up? Yep, you guessed it, nothing.
So I have decided to print up a thousand signs that show a hand grenade, with a red \ through it, then sell them to the same light bulb over their head executives who bought the last batch of signs.
I mean just in case a co-worker sees that since guns are prohibited, they might assume it's all peachy to bring explosives in case WWIII breaks out during a afternoon meeting.

Oh, this made me laugh out loud! Good point. Something else I laughed at was on the way out to lunch Topher pointed out the sign to me saying “Guns were prohibited except these.” and pointed to his biceps! :)
