Just kidding, I always give Alex a hard time every year, and he tries to return the favor on Columbus Day.
Pretty good weekend, until Sunday night that is. I watched a few movies, the highlight being one in an actual theater! Saturday morning I tackled my garage and the shed in my backyard. While I wouldn't so far as to say I cleaned them out, I did reorganize them both. I had some mulch in my garage I moved to the shed, and was finally able to move my old kitchen table, microwave stand, and 'liquor cabinet' out of the basement into the garage. I cleaned the workbench off, making room for my new toy.
Watch for a post once I finally use it for something! I finished off Saturday by cleaning off my driveway, chatting a bit with my neighbor, and starting work on my Mom day present. In the weird case she decides to start reading this blog today, I will refrain from any more info on that. There is a series on the sci-fi channel, which I have wanted to check out, but seeing how I missed the first 3 seasons, I never have. Netflix to the rescue! The series I am referring to is Battlestar Galactica. I was a fan of the original show, as cheesy as it was, but never started watching this remake. I knew they had changed/updated it, one of the hugest things was making the character Starbuck a female, the second being Cylons now had terminator like models that appeared human. So I went ahead and added the season 1, disc 1 to my que, and moved it into the top 10. I only moved the first disc, since it contained the mini-series that was the premiere of the show. I figured I would decide if I liked it before adding the rest of season 1, then the next seasons as well. I'd write a more detailed review, but to be honest don't feel like it. I do recommend renting this, if you were a fan of the original, I bumped the rest of season 1 up my netflix list.
Sunday I woke up early as usual, it was almost like Christmas. I had said I wanted to see Iron Man this weekend, and frequent commenter Kelly said her son and her would meet me if I told them when. In the rare occasions I do see a movie at the theater, I shoot for the earliest show Sunday mornings. To avoid the crowds, and it leaves the rest of the day for me to do whatever. I was surprised her husband, my friend Brian joined us, which I was glad he did. I mentioned the movie to my mom Friday night, and both my parents also met us there.

5 out of 5
Yes, giving this a full 5, I am glad to know they are already working on Iron Man 2, for a tentative release in 2010 (omg the year of the space odyssey!)
Having never read this comic, I wasn't sure what Iron Man really was. This first movie, in what looks to be one of many starts with sort of the origin of Iron Man. Check out these numbers from Yahoo Movies:
The film also scored overseas with $96.7 million in 57 countries where it began opening Wednesday, putting its worldwide total at $201 million."
What was interesting also, is that this was the first release by the new movie studio, rightly called 'Marvel Studios'.
I highly recommend this one, I think Robert Downey, the whole cast, and director Jon Favreau did a great job introducing this character to those of us who did not know him before. Thanks to the Snyder family for driving out and seeing this one.
After the movie, I ran a couple errands, including a stop at the video game store. I traded in an Xbox 360 game, and a Ps3 game for two Ps3 games. That place is a racket, but what they gave me in credit is better than nothing. I may try ebay to get rid of any other games in the future.
I bought two titles, Advanced Warfighter:Ghost Recon 2, and Grand Theft Auto IV. I didn't get too deep into either game, but after beating Condemned 2:Bloodshot Friday night, I needed some new games. So far, the most I can say is Ghost Recon 2, is complicated, lots of stuff to remember, and you have to control 3 AI squad members. Graphics are impressive though, I imagine after a few missions I'll get the hang of it. GTA IV, with all the hype, I only played about 30 minutes before heading to bed. I'll admit, the intro scenes were really cool, how they flashed the credits during the cut scenes leading up to the game starting. So far the game earns it's "mature rating" for the language, not much violence yet. In fact after only being in America for 2 days my character already had a date with a girl. We went bowling, and in 5 frames I had a score of 62, hehehe!
After the movie and the errands, when I got home, I finished the garage organizing, then decided to do some cooking. Nothing I made worked though. Besides the very simple hamburgers and corn I grilled outside. I almost think I wasn't in the mood to cook after I started.
While I folded my laundry, I watched my last movie from Netflix.

Rebecca De Mornay ...Richard's Mom
4 out of 5
This movie was inspired by the true story of Richard Pimentel, a Vietnam veteran who was injured while in service, and the result was his loss of hearing. I have been a fan of Ron Livingston, from his work in The Band of Brothers, and of course the immortal Office Space.
The movie follows Richard's troubled childhood, and his eventual work for the Americans with Disabilities Act. It amazes me that this wasn't put into effect until 1992.
Richard returns from Vietnam deaf, and meets his life long friend Art, who suffers from Cerebral Palsy. After seeing his fellow injured veterans unable to find jobs because of their disablities, he decides on a career placing them in jobs. He is eventually approached by the governor and travels the country speaking to employers on how to work with workers who have disabilities.
I read a few reviews on other sites saying this movie was good on paper, but didn't deliver. I disagree, having no knowledge of this true story I enjoyed, and recommend it.
That's it for today, I sort of ran long, but it was an eventful weekend.
ciao!

Excellent, excited to see a review for Music Within as it's on my list.
Oh that's funny. re: ...when we celebrate Seis de Mayo!
The pasta didn't turn out huh? I experimented this weekend and not to do one up on you, my dinner guest enjoyed it. We can call it almost homemade. I will say you did give me the idea!!! I took a box of BC Suddenly Salad (Italian) and instead of using mayo I used creamy 3 cheese Italian dressing and Kalamata olives. Rachel Ray would say YUM-O! I also did killer burgers and hotdogs on the grill.
Yes, and can you please let me know what that computer program is called again?
And your most welcome for making the trip anytime - as long as the movie is a good one. ; ) (Ty wanted to make a trip to the comic book store after the movie)
