Thank you Mr Ssssssnake!

This is kind of cool. Yesterday, after work, I went to see the physical trainer, like any other Wednesday. Then I drove home, let the dogs out, changed, and was planning on mowing the yard. Since it's supposed to rain today. I make Barkley and JayJay stay outside while I mow the backyard, they are ok until I am about half done, and then they are staring at me on the deck, wanting to go back in.

So here is the cool thing. I have a shed in my backyard where I keep the mower (of the push variety) and various yard tools. I roll it out of the shed, and realize the gas cap is missing! You see whenever I start the mower after refilling the gas, I prime it (that's the lil plastic bubble you push 4-5 times) and I loosen the gas cap, and fire it up. Well the last two times I mowed I forgot to re-tighten the gas cap. Two times ago, I realized it only a couple seconds into mowing. Apparently the last time I mowed I didn't, because lo and behold, no gas cap was present last night. After cussing myself out, and trying to decide when I could go to Sears to buy a gas cap, if they even carried them. I start walking the yard, thinking it can't be that difficult to spot. I don't have a huge yard, it's decent sized though. I make two passes around the back, then check the front yard, and then a third walk around the back. By now I think that cap is long gone. As I start to walk to the shed, thinking mowing last night wasn't meant to be, I spot a snake. Yes a real snake, don't ask me what kind of snake, I'd guess the common variety garden snake. I'm not scared of snakes, but you won't catch me cuddling with one. Curious I watch the little guy, he/she was probably a little over a foot long. The snake slithers over to the sandbox near the fence, so I follow. He goes through the fence into the neighbors yard, but comes back in a couple boards down. Shazam, I gave a little chuckle as I notice where Mr (or Mrs) Snake came back through the fence, my missing gas cap sitting there. Pretty cool, in my opinion, don't ask me if it was a sign from above, or if I went and bought lottery tickets afterwards, but if I hadn't seen that snake, followed it, and if it hadn't come back through the fence into my yard, I would have been buying a new cap after work today!

After finishing mowing, showering, and making some dinner (leftover pasta and Shake & Bake chicken!) I settled in for some TV. I watched episode no. 4 of John Adams, which starts with him still in France, after the war is over, eventually being appointed ambassador to Britain, and at the end of the episode, becoming the first Vice President.

Abigail Breslin ... Zoe

Well this one has been out for awhile, and slowly worked it's way up my Netflix que. I have American Gangster at home too, but I was in the mood for something more light last night so I watched this one.

The movie is about a accomplished chef (Catherine 'tasty' Zeta-Jones) who thinks her job as head chef at a restaurant in NY is her life. That quickly changes when her sister and niece (her only family) on their way for a visit are in an accident. Her sister does not survive, and Kate now finds herself the guardian of Zoe. Her boss forces her to take some time off from the kitchen, and when she returns she finds a new Sous Chef (that's the chef in charge of sauces, and the right hand man of the executive chef). Aaron Eckhart brings a different style to Kate's once almost military kitchen. He sings Opera, cracks jokes, and their is an immediate clash of style once Kate returns full time.

Eventually with the help of Zoe, that changes. ......

Most of my friends who have seen this told me I needed to watch because of the story revolving around her being a chef. I don't mind them nagging me to watch it, because it was good.

That's it today,

ciao!

Yes, I whole heartily believe it was a sign from above. I LOVE stories of these sorts! They are truly amazing.

You are an excellent writer. You made me laugh with the dogs starring at you from the deck wanting to go in. Are they too turning into hermits?! I thought dogs love the outdoors. ; )

Well I thought it was pretty cool, the snake came back through the fence, and sort of stared at me, right next to the gas cap.

Most dogs love the outdoors, JayJay used to be outside all the time when my Grandma had her. Sometimes I have to walk behind Barkley to the steps to get him to go in the yard. I usually have to beg her to come back inside, while Barkley does his business and is back on the deck.

Maybe I'm just too protective, but I don't leave them outside for very long. As soon as they get back on the deck I let them in.

Maybe they are scare of snakes is all ;-)
