Definitely, Maybe

Definitely, Maybe (dvd)
Trailer
IMDB

Ryan Reynolds ... Will Hayes
Abigail Breslin ... Maya Hayes
*Elizabeth Banks ... Emily
*Isla Fisher ... April Hoffman
Kevin Kline ... Hampton Roth
*Rachel Weisz ... Summer Hartley

* - h.a.w.t.

Gee, it's really hard to feel sorry for a guy who has dated Elizabeth Banks, Rachel Weisz, and Isla Fisher, I mean c'mon.

I was really excited to see this one, even when it was at the theater. Ryan Reynolds is graduating from the slapstick, to more serious, but still funny roles. In this movie, we start with him receiving divorce papers. His daughter wants him to tell him the story of how he met her mom. So he agrees, and explains his three true loves of his life. Changing all three names in the story, so his daughter has to solve the mystery of which one is her mom.

I highly recommend this one, it had me guessing for most of the movie which hawtie it was in the end too.

Short post today, I am only working a half day, and have a 1:30 tee time, so I need to squeeze some work outta this last 2 hrs before I leave.

Have a great weekend,

ciao!

Couple trailers and AGT from Tues

AGT, as my friend Kelly termed it, is the TV show America's Got Talent, on Tuesday nights. Since I went to the Royals game, I watched it last night from my DVR.

My early favorites, are Eli, the guy who sang the excellent Marc Cohn song 'Walking in Memphis'. Eli sang it a bit fast, but wow, he has a great voice and stage presence. If you liked that song, and have never heard his other hit 'True Companion' check it out. I also was very impressed with the opera singer from the first audition episode, the insurance salesman, I don't remember his name. Other than that, unless the performer's (for some that title is a stretch) who have made it to Vegas so far, really need to put on a good second act to impress me. It's not like the first season, when I had about four acts I was ok with any of them winning.

Here are a couple movie trailers for you to enjoy.

The Miracle at St Anna
let's hope spike lee can curb his racism and make a good movie.

Finding Amanda
Ladyhawke is still one of my favorite Matthew Broderick movies, maybe even tied with Ferris Bueller, but this one looks good too. A gambling addict travels to Vegas to convince his niece to enter rehab after finding out she has changed careers and is now a call girl.

On a completely different subject. I have been eye balling the new Instinct phone. My phone plan allows me to upgrade next month at the discount price. I was disappointed to find out it can not at this time sync your calendar from outlook to the phone. It has a calendar, and you can sync emails, contacts, but no calendar. I saw a few comments that it will be added later though. Well, the one thing I sync my personal phone with my work outlook is my calendar. I don't want my contacts or emails from the office on my personal cell. If they want to give me a different phone for free, then I'd allow that.

I like to think of myself as resourceful, so I started looking for ideas to get around that hiccup, and possibly still purchase the phone. I stumbled on a Google calendar sync program. What this does after installing, is sync your M$ outlook calendar to your Google calendar. Up until yesterday, I had never used Google calendar, but since I have a Google account, I decided to give it a test drive. After installing, and deciding how often I want it to automatically sync, it took about 10 minutes for the initial sync. After that was done, I added Google calendar to my iGoogle page (that's kind of like a myYahoo home page). I was rewarded with a calendar, I can access from any web enabled device (phone or my desktop/laptop at home) that now shows my work calendar. This will come in handy if I ever need to check from home, or I don't have my work laptop on a day off or something, and need to dial into a call anyway. Go here to download Google calendar sync if this sounds like it is for you. So, until they fix the Instinct, this could be a valid short term band-aid fix.

Movies........
I had my weekly workout with the trainer last night, so by the time I got home, watched Malcolm from yesterday (I'm behind a day), took care of the dogs, and then baked a new batch of Mini Bacon Quiche's, I only had time for one movie, then Tuesday's AGT. I'm looking for a better name for that dish, because they aren't really quiche. It's bacon, onion, ricotta, mozzarella, cheddar (I used a blend with pepper jack too) some spices, all baked into a mini phyllo tart shell. I brought a batch in today for everyone, since I'm already fat enough, eating 30 of these would make me worse. So I had to decide which movie to watch. Of the three, I have been highly anticipating 'Definitely Maybe' and 'Grace is Gone', so I went with the comedy Semi-Pro to hopefully get some laughs in after a busy week here at work so far. (sorry Kel)

Semi-Pro (dvd)
IMDB

Will Ferrell ... Jackie Moon
Woody Harrelson ... Monix
André Benjamin ... Clarence 'Coffee' Black
DeRay Davis ... Bee Bee Ellis
Maura Tierney ... Lynn
Andrew Daly ... Dick Pepperfield
Will Arnett ... Lou Redwood
Andy Richter ... Bobby Dee
David Koechner ... Commissioner
Rob Corddry ... Kyle
Matt Walsh ... Father Pat the Ref
Jackie Earle Haley ... Dukes

Trailer (I'm trying to decide if I should start embedding the actual trailer here, or just provide a link, please comment and let me know which you prefer.

Extra points if you can tell me......without cheating, where you would recognize the character 'Dukes' (Jackie Earle Haley) from?

This was a good comedy, plenty of funny wacky scenes, it's set in the 70's, and I wouldn't have been surprised to see his character from Anchorman in the background. I hope Will Ferrell dabbles in some more dramatic roles again, I really enjoyed his work in Stranger Than Fiction, which I guess technically was a dramatic comedy? Anyway, he has a couple great movies coming soon, including Stepbrothers, and a updated movie based on the old classic Land of the Lost TV series. I'd recommend this one, it's not a kids movie though, the language is pretty rough for sensitive ears.

ok, all done for today, I'm planning on watching either the other movies at home, so if that happens I'll try sharing tomorrow, which will be a half day at work for me, since I have a 1pm tee time.

ciao!

Crack is ..........bad??

So a couple days ago, the shocking, breaking, no one could have guessed it news about the singer Amy Winehouse hit CNN. Apparently her lungs are bad, may have emphysema, etc etc. Her father, being the genius that he is, was quoted blaming her condition on smoking, and crack. Umm, seriously, that statement is so out there to me. Number 1, no sheet sherlock, crack is bad for your lungs, thanks for that medical breakthrough, how many animals had to die to find that out? Number two, maybe since he is her father, and clearly knows she is on crack, instead of making news with breakthroughs about the health concerns for a crack smoker, he should take care of his daughters addiction.

Last night I went to a Royals baseball game. Anyone who knows me, knows I'm not a baseball fan really. We had a vendor in town here at work, and he was taking her and my buddy Alex to the game. I had lunch with them, (I don't actually work do any work with his company) and he asked them afterwards if I wanted to go. I guess it's my winning personality and charm, people love me (/end sarcasm). I agreed, and had a great time, free t-shirt night to boot!

I am pretty excited for my netflix movies to arrive tonight, I should be getting three movies.
1.Definitely Maybe
2.Semi-Pro
3.Grace is Gone

Busy day, so I'll try to write more tomorrow.

RIP Mr Carlin

Rest in Peace George Carlin, May 12, 1937 – June 22, 2008

That's all I will say about that, if you are a Carlin fan, there are plenty of other places to read about this untimely death of one of the greats.

1.The Savages
2.Cassandra's Dream
3.Strange Wilderness
4.Incredible Hulk (2008)
5.Get Smart (2008)

What is this you ask? Well those are the movies I watched this weekend! I don't have the time to write reviews on them all, so here is a very quick condensed opinion of each.

1.The Savages (dvd) - IMDB - Trailer - Pretty good movie about adults dealing with how to take care of their elderly parents. In this case, a brother and sister have to fly to Arizona, and find something to do with their father, diagnosed with dementia . The end put a HUGE smile on my face.
2.Cassandra's Dream (dvd) - IMDB - Trailer - Well, this seemed to be an English (as in British) remake of Before the Devil Knows You're Dead. Two brothers, in financial problems, approach their rich Uncle for loans. The price is to do him a favor, which questions their morals, he wants them to murder a business associate who is going to testify against him.
3.Strange Wilderness (dvd) - IMDB - Trailer - Don't rent it, see it, or even look too long at this on the shelf. It was horrible. The hilarious shark scene in the trailer still makes me laugh, but the rest of the movie is time I will never get back, and I might sue the whole film crew for compensation. The single good thing was getting to look at Ashley Scott. ummm hawt.

4.Incredible Hulk (theater) - IMDB - Trailer - Oh my gosh! My Mom was acting a little squirrely Sunday, and asked if I wanted to go see a couple movies. We started with The Hulk. This was a huge improvement over the last CGI hulk. I have always been a Ed Norton fan, and this was a great comic book movie.
5.Get Smart (theater) - IMDB - Trailer - The second movie was the Steve Carrell remake of the classic TV spy series. If you liked the old TV show, you will like this movie. Plenty of laughs and I was not disappointed.

Other weekend activities.....

Saturday morning I had to get up early to take Barkley into the vet. He was having a minor surgery to remove a cyst. After some confusion with the appointment (the vet forgot about it). I was very nervous about this, anytime they are going to do something like this I am scared. They were not going to sedate him, but just give a local around the area, shave it, and laser cut it out, finishing with a few stitches. I smoked about a pack of cigarettes when I left to get gas in the car, buy some special treats for afterwards and wait for them to finish. When I got back about 20 min later, he was ready to go, and a little groggy. He has about a four inch stitched up incision along the middle of his back. When I got home, the plan was to do some yard work, after picking up potting soil, mulch and some plants Friday night. I figured Barkley was going to sleep most of the afternoon anyway. So after I sat with him for a few, I went outside. I came in to grab a beverage and saw the stitches were bleeding a little, so I called the vet back. They told me it was normal, to keep my eye on him, and if it was still 'draining' in a few hours to call again. I cleaned off the blood, grabbed the egg timer, and went back outside. I set it for 20 min, and every time it beeped I went in to check on him. He was pretty much asleep every time so I pushed it out to 30 min, and in a few hours the blood seemed to have stopped.

We added pain killers to his nightly list, and he did get an approval for the ears looking a lot better.

Since it rained Sunday morning, my Dad said if I wanted to come over around 10, the ground should be dry enough, but that meant I'd be out there in the hottest part of the day, and wouldn't have finished until around 4 in the afternoon, so we decided I would come by tonight and mow half, then the rest tomorrow night.

I did pick one of these up Friday after work, and a protective case for it, at Best Buy.
My Passport Elite 320gb

Its about the size of a moleskin notebook, and so far I have thrown everything on my iPod onto this, some pictures, documents etc. If you weren't sure, it is an external hard drive. So far I am liking it, and will try and write more tomorrow, but today we are done. I need to start doing some work.

30 Days, Soapbox, Pu-239, Ira & Abby

Last night I watched this week's episode of the TV series 30 Days. The show is about taking someone out of their element, and putting them in someone else's, for you guessed it 30 days. Last week they took an NFL player, and he spent a month in a wheelchair. They mix in some very interesting information during the show along with daily activities. So this week, I was eager to watch, because they took a 42 year old hunter, who believes animals are here to either serve or be eaten, and they stuck him in a Vegan family home, gave him a job at a factory animal rescue farm, and made him participate in PETA demonstrations. The one redeeming quality he had going in, was he claimed he just wanted to hear from 'animal rights people' rational reasons why they believe what they do. I admit it was a hard episode to watch. The gave a warning before the show started, because they had footage of animals being harmed, and mistreated. It wasn't easy to watch. The hunter started off on the defense, and said every animal person gives the same schpeel (no idea how to spell that). His eyes finally opened, when he is called out at 3am one morning to help rescue a factory farm calf. When they get there they find a calf that is starving, and can barely breathe, left for dead by the business outside of the fence. I admit again, this was an emotional episode. If you ever have a chance to watch the rerun of it, I think you should.

I use this quote every once in awhile, and here it is again.

"I am not interested to know whether vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't.... The pain which it inflicts upon unconsenting animals is the basis of my enmity toward it, and it is to me sufficient justification of the enmity without looking further. ~Mark Twain"

If you don't know, vivisection is testing drugs on live animals. I think Mr Twain summed it up perfectly.

Here are 33 facts about vivisection.

(1) Less than 2% of human illnesses (1.16%) are ever seen in animals.
(2) According to the former scientific executive of Huntington Life Sciences, animal tests and human results agree only '5%-25% of the time'.
(3) 95% of drugs passed by animal tests are immediately discarded as useless or dangerous to humans.
(4) At least 50 drugs on the market cause cancer in laboratory animals. They are allowed because it is admitted the animal tests are not relevant.
(5) Procter & Gamble used an artificial musk despite it failing the animal tests, i.e., causing tumours in mice. They said the animal test results were 'of little relevance for humans'.
(6) When asked if they agreed that animal experiments can be misleading 'because of anatomical and physiological differences between animals and humans', 88% of doctors agreed.
(7) Rats are only 37% effective in identifying what causes cancer to humans. Flipping a coin would be more accurate.
The pharmaceutical industry funds many groups and organisations, so...
(8) Rodents are the animals almost always used in cancer research. They never get carcinomas, the human form of cancer, which affects membranes (e.g lung cancer). Their sarcomas affect bone and connecting tissue: the two cannot be compared.
(9) Up to 90% of animal test results are discarded as they are inapplicable to man.
(10) The results from animal experiments can be altered by factors such as diet and bedding. Bedding has been identified as giving cancer rates of over 90% and almost nil in the same strain of mice at different locations.
(11) Sex differences among laboratory animals can cause contradictory results. This does not correspond with humans.
(12) 9% of anaesthetised animals, intended to recover, die.
(13) An estimated 83% of substances are metabolised by rats in a different way to humans.
(14) Attempts to sue the manufacturers of the drug Surgam failed due to the testimony of medical experts that: 'data from animals could not be extrapolated safely to patients'.
(15) Lemon juice is a deadly poison, but arsenic, hemlock and botulin are safe according to animal tests.
(16) Genetically modified animals are not models for human illness. The mdx mouse is supposed to represent muscular dystrophy, but the muscles regenerate without treatment.
(17) 88% of stillbirths are caused by drugs which are passed as being safe in animal tests, according to a study in Germany.
(18) 61% of birth defects are caused by drugs passed safe in animal tests, according to the same study. Defect rates are 200 times post war levels.
(19) One in six patients in hospital are there because of a treatment they have taken.
(20) In America, 100,000 deaths a year are attributed to medical treatment. In one year 1.5 million people were hospitalised by medical treatment.
(21) A World Health Organisation study showed children were 14 times more likely to develop measles if they had been vaccinated.
(22) 40% of patients suffer side effects as a result of prescription treatment.
(23) Over 200,000 medicines have been released, most of which are now withdrawn. According to the World Health Organisation, only 240 are 'essential'.
(24) A German doctors' congress concluded that 6% of fatal illnesses and 25% of organic illness are caused by medicines. All have been animal tested.
(25) The lifesaving operation for ectopic pregnancies was delayed 40 years due to vivisection.
(26) According to the Royal Commission into vivisection (1912), 'The discovery of anaesthetics owes nothing to experiments on animals'. The great Dr Hadwen noted that 'had animal experiments been relied upon...humanity would have been robbed of this great blessing of anaesthesia'. The vivisector Halsey described the discovery of Fluroxene as 'one of the most dramatic examples of misleading evidence from animal data'.
(27) Aspirin fails animal tests, as does digitalis (a heart drug), cancer treatments, insulin (causes animal birth defects), penicillin and other safe medicines. They would have been banned if vivisection were heeded.
(28) In the court case when the manufacturers of Thalidomide were being tried, they were acquitted after numerous experts agreed that animal tests could not be relied on for human medicine.
(29) Blood transfusions were delayed 200 years by animal studies, corneal transplants were delayed 90 years.
(30) Despite many Nobel prizes being awarded to vivisectors, only 45% agree that animal experiments are crucial.
(31) At least 450 methods exist with which we can replace animal experiments.
(32) At least thirty-three animals die in laboratories each second worldwide; in the UK, one every four seconds.
(33) The Director of Research Defence Society, (which exists to defend vivisection) was asked if medical progress could have been achieved without animal use. His written reply was 'I am sure it could be'.

Pretty strong stuff there. I made a couple lines bold, just to stand out. I hate here at work we have this huge march of crimes (dimes) fund raiser, when I tell whoever comes to my cube to ask if I want to donate, and I explain I will not support a group that tests on Animals, I get the same look, it is a look that implies I want babies to be sick. That's ridiculous, go back and read Mark Twain's quote above, and you will understand, the fact that they kill, torture and treat animals like they do not suffer just as much as we do.

I didn't have time to post yesterday, but Wednesday night I watched two movies.

PU-239 (DvD)
aka "The Half Life of Timofey Berezin"
Trailer
IMDB

Paddy Considine ... Timofey
Radha Mitchell ... Marina
Oscar Isaac ... Shiv

This was apparently an HBO movie, I don't recall seeing it ever advertised when it was on.

"Timofey: [voiceover] The hands on the clock are waving goodbye. It was my grandfather's watch. The dial was painted by hand in America during Word War I. The brides of soldiers seated at long tables dutifully making luminous little sixes and eights to help keep the world free. The eights were particularly hard to make; so the women sucked on the tips of the paintbrushes to bring them to a fine point. One by one, their mouths began to fill with cancer. The radium-based paint they had swallowed bombarded their brains and bones with alpha and beta particles. The women who painted the watch faces sued the US Radium Corporation of West Orange, New Jersey. Had the trial been at night, the breath they used to say goodbye to the world would have glowed like moonlit fog. They were given ten thousand dollars for their lives."

Besides a couple scenes, I enjoyed this movie. Don't expect action or comedy, this is a drama. Timofey has worked 12 years at a secret Russian nuclear facility, and when an accident occurs he receives a large dose of radiation. His superiors want him to sign a waiver saying he made the mistake, suspend him, and lie about the dosage he received. Once he finds out the truth, he hatches a plan, to steal a small amount of Plutonium, travel to Moscow and sell it to make sure his family is ok after his impending death. He meets up with some small time thugs, who already have their own problems, when are ordered to collect protection money from one of their bosses 'protected' businesses. They write down the address, but confuse the handwriting and think its a 1 instead of a 7. They end up blowing up the wrong business, one that is being protected by a different russian crime family.

We watch as Timofey gets sicker and sicker, in a race to sell the plutonium before his time is up.

I'd recommend watching this one. Not with the kiddies around, there is a fair amount of prostitution references during it.

Ira & Abby (dvd)
Trailer
IMBD

Chris Messina ... Ira Black
Jennifer Westfeldt ... Abby Willoughby

First off, Jennifer is hawt...

Ok, this was a pretty good movie. Ira is a little neurotic, and he meets Abby a free spirit. This is almost that old TV show, with Jenna Elfman, the name escapes me.

I won't write a huge review, but will recommend this one. It's a little slow, and most of the comedy comes from the supporting cast of therapists.

It's getting pretty busy this morning here at work, so have a great weekend, I gotta go.

ciao!

Argh, I can't stand idiot drivers

So this clown gets into my lane this morning, in his lexus, and oh my gosh on his cell phone. When I say my lane, I mean the sometimes referred to as the fast, or the passing lane. I admit, I cruise around 80mph the whole drive down the hwy. This above mentioned idiot, slows down to about 58 mph. We were in traffic, but he could have at least kept it around 65. I wanted to pass him, but couldn't until the last second when I had to punch it, and swerve in front of a large construction type vehicle.

Next up, this clown stops about 3 car lengths behind the first car at the red light, literally, you could have pulled a school bus between him and the lead car. The light turns green and he doesn't move. I realize he wants to get over one more lane into the left hand turning lane. I am so sick of idiots who are in the wrong lane, miss their exit, or whatever and instead of realizing they are morons, and go to the next turn and try a second time, they almost create accidents to save those 5 minutes of fixing the inbred mistake they just made.

ok, now that I have that out of my system.

Last night after work I went over to Best Buy, and bought a movie (blue-ray) and the new PS3 game Metal Gear Solid 4. First up, I'll write about the movie.

Be Kind Rewind (Blue Ray)
Trailer
IMDB

Jack Black ...Jerry
Mos Def ...Mike
Danny Glover ...Elroy Fletcher
Mia Farrow ...Miss Falewicz
Melonie Diaz ...Alma

I was very excited to see this movie, even when it was in the theaters. That doesn't happen very often anymore. In fact, I am thinking about going on my own to see the Hulk and Happening movies this weekend. I probably won't though since my weekend plans are filling up. Anyway, about the movie.

I read a few critics reviews about this movie, and they were mixed. I went ahead and bought a copy to decide for myself. What I don't like about the trailer, is that the idea really comes from Mos Def's character, and it makes it look like it is Jack Black's idea.

Anyway, Danny Glover plays a VHS tape movie rental store, in a run down building he claims was the birthplace of a famous jazzman during the 50's. The store is in bad condition in a small New Jersey suburb. Mos Def works at the store, and Jack Black is the kooky conspiracy theory friend who lives in a trailer in the junkyard down the street. Danny Glover leaves town for about a week, after finding out he has 60 days to either repair the building or the city will demolish it for fancy condos. He leaves Mike (Mos Def) in charge, with a final request to keep Jerry (jack Black) out of the store! Jerry has a way of causing mayhem unintentionally, and of course the first day Mr Fletcher (Danny Glover) is gone, he does just that. Jerry decides he wants to sabotage the power company and short / blow out a transformer station. Mike goes along at first, but leaves Jerry there when he realizes Mr Fletcher would not approve. Not discouraged at all, Jerry fails to blow anything up, but does succeed in electrocuting himself. The result is he is now magnetized!

Before they realize it, Jerry erases every movie in the store just by touching them. They need a plan to make a customer happy who Mr Fletcher has been calling while on vacation to check on everything, and when she rents Ghostbusters, having never seen it, Mike has a brilliant idea. They will tape over the now blank movie with their own version. When the customer's nephew and his tough guy friends see it, they demand more home made versions of movies and it's downhill from there. The guys re-film such greats as RoboCop, Driving Miss Daisey, Rush Hour, and many many more.

I thought this was a great movie, there were plenty of laughs, and I recommend it. Check out the trailer for yourself above, and then go get the movie!

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Cut Scene

Gameplay Demo (kind of long, but good, laugh with me as the presenter pronounces the word militia as 'mil-a-tia'

I haven't had a chance to even try playing yet. After I got home, let the dogs out, made something to eat, watched my daily dose of Holly Starr, I mean Malcolm in the Middle, cleaned the dogs ears, put in a load of laundry, and then I watched Be Kind, Rewind.

Also, big news, Americas Got Talent started last night. I admit I got wrapped up last year, and talk about cool. The winner, who got a cool million $$, also just signed a long-term contract in Vegas for $100,000,000 yes, that's one hundred million dollars. I think if I was in his shoes, my opening act would be the runner up from last season, they were both very talented and deserving. I am not really an avid fake-eality (that;s fake reality) TV watcher, but I do enjoy this show, some of the stories and the talent are amazing.

ok, that's it for today

Preseason #1 ??

I am overjoyed to see the official announcement from UNC that all three players announced they will return. Next year, my Tarheels should be preseason favorites! This is especially exciting since there is a chance I can finally travel to North Carolina to see a game at Chapel Hill!

I found a website I wanted to share, you might want to bookmark (or tag with delicious) for future reference. It is called SafeManuals and supposedly has over 800,000 manuals for appliances and the such. That might come in handy when you can't find an owner's manual for that cappuccino maker. There is a similar site out there for video game manuals, but I don't have that link handy for you.

Another site you might want to check out is KeepVid. Do you have a youtube, or a google video you want to download, and add to your iPod to watch later? Head here, and follow their instructions. It is as simple as throwing the url (address) of the video into a text box and clicking download. You then have a couple choices on what format. You need to Right-Click and Save As, to your desktop (leave it the default name and rename it after it downloads). Once that is done, rename it, transfer it to your iTunes, then you will have to convert it to iPod format. This is about the only thing I am using iTunes for anymore, now that I am an avid MediaMonkey user.

So I took Barkley and JayJay in last Saturday for their ears, nail trims, and the follow-up for just Barks is this Saturday. Well this past weekend, late Saturday night, the cyst on his back, which the vet had said was nothing to be worried about, well, not to be gross, but it popped open. I am sure if it was technically a cyst, but I was up pretty late Saturday night taking care of it and him (it was draining / bleeding, gross stuff). I shaved around it with my beard trimmer and tried my best to bandage it. I checked Sunday and it looked better, so I did my Fathers day thing. Later that night I messed with it some more and decided to make an appointment at the vet just to be sure it was ok. So yesterday I call to set a time to bring him in. The best I could do was a 5pm appointment. That is almost pushing it, because I get home a little after 4 everyday. By the time I let them both out, changed my clothes, it was about time to head back out. When I got his harness out (Barkley uses a harness instead of a standard leash collar, he thinks he is Houdini when he only has a collar). anyway, JayJay was not happy I was only loading him into the car, so she got to come along as well.

Once the vet came in to see us, he said the cyst wasn't as bad as it looked, gave me some antibiotics, more ear cleaner stuff, and offered to remove the cyst surgically. He said we wouldn't have to knock Barkley out, just sedate him, do a local around the affected area, remove it, sew it up, and while he is sedated it would be a good time for a thorough ear cleaning by them. I agreed only because I really trust and like the vet who was on duty last night (he owns the place). He said that the cyst would continue to seal itself, and 'pop' in the future, removing it would get rid of it forever. I had an appointment to see my regular vet around 10 for Barkley's followup, but he said he would come in on his day off, to do the procedure if we made the appt earlier. So I changed it to 8am. Yes I am a little nervous, I am so protective of my dogs, because they mean everything to me. Dr Pelfrey (the owner) said it would only take about 30 min, and Barkus could head back home, so I hope everything goes ok. He did give me even more ear stuff, so now each night, for each dog I have to do the following....
Chase them down, and practically sit on top of them
Use cleaner #1 in each ear, massaging it, then let them shake.
Wipe out each ear with cotton swabs/pads.

For Barkley, after the first cleaner he gets
2-3 drops of the second cleaner, massage

For each of them, Dr Pelfrey gave me a syringe (no needle) and marked a measurement, then...
x amount of cleaner #3 in each ear of each dog.

Finally they get a treat, and Barkley gets a antibiotic. I take some creamy peanut butter, and spread it over a milk bone, then disguise the pill. Both get the PB Milk bone, Barkley just has a pill mixed in. For the next three days, Barkley gets that syringe twice a day. Then it's every two weeks for each of them.

ok, just typing all that wears me out, but before I go, a BIG congrats to my friend Alex, and his better half Ann, for just about wrapping up the purchase of their new home, I'm excited and happy for them both!

ciao!

UNC good news? Cologne, and Tiger may do it again!

Sorry for the long subject, but this will truly be a wrap-up post!

First up, did anyone else watch the finals yesterday and the performance Tiger Woods put in this weekend? Saturday he had two eagles to take a lead. Sunday he loses it, and is going into the final hole, even par, and behind the leader by 1. So he needs a birdie to force a tie/playoff. I have to admit, it is hard to not cheer for Rocco Mediate, who he was trying to catch. Ranked something like 158, he would have been the oldest, and highest ranked player to ever win the US Open. After two bad shots, Tiger needs to sink a 12 foot putt to force the playoff. Sure enough, he drains it (well, it was pretty close), and the 18 hole playoff is today. Swing by ESPN to read the full writeup. If you have time, watch the video's of Tiger's amazing shots this weekend.

The next exciting bit of possible news relates to my Tarheels. What a roller coaster the NBA draft has caused this year. With three of our stars (Hansborough was quick to declare he was staying) Ty Lawson, Wayne Ellington, and Danny Green all 'tested the waters'. Well today is the final day to back out, or leave their names in the draft. This latest report from my favorite fan site says he has heard from a source all three will return!!! This is awesome news for me.

Quick rant thrown in there, I don't want anyone thinking I'm actually in a good mood, that would ruin my image.

I remember growing up, suffering through cologne/perfume ads. They were always cheezy attempts at new age art and horrid. Well seems like every commercial break nowadays, we don't get killed with them, which is great, but one does seem to be played allot. The Polo Black ad, now, don't get me wrong, when I have it, I like using a dab of smell good stuff, and I have purchased Polo Black in the past. Here is my issue. This model they use for the ad....c'mon, seriously? Now I'm completely straight, but most guys can at least admit if another dude can pull the women, or he needs a bank roll to meet ladies. This guy in the ad, I have a feeling he doesn't need cologne, any brand of it, to have women drool when they see him.

Next up, are a couple really good videos.
The first is making waves from the new Weezer album. My favorite track from the cd is number 2 entitled 'Troublemaker', but this video and the song are definitely either tied or in second place. The video is for the song 'Pork & Beans' and it's a huge hit on youtube. Maybe because the video guest features youtube user 'stars' like the dude crying about Britney, or my favorite the Peanut Butter Jelly time banana. Go here to watch, I would have embedded it here, but they disabled it.

The second one if you watch it, offer up your take on it in comments. People who watched it over on youtube (this one is also disabled to embed), are discussing who the panel of people are. Is the parents of the bully, or the kid being picked on? I realized I already had a couple of this bands songs, and I really enjoy this new one. The band is named Tokyo Police Club, and the video is for the song 'Tessellate' which means "To form into a mosaic pattern, as by using small squares of stone or glass." Jump here to watch the video.

I didn't accomplish too much this weekend. Saturday I watched some TV, spent time with the dogs, and then Sunday took my Dad to breakfast. Afterwards, my sister was taking him to lunch, so I rode with my Mom over to the US Toy company, to show her where it was, and look for Bingo cards for their Fourth of July party.

I'm swamped, so that's all you get today. Just a last note. Be Kind, Rewind, is being released tomorrow on DvD. I will probably blindly buy this one, Mos Def, and Jack Black, I don't think will disappoint.

There Will be zzzzzzz Blood

There Will Be Blood
IMDB
Trailer

Ok, so I watched There Will be Blood last night. I will admit, for some people it might be a snoozer. The first 15 minutes or so, not one line was even spoken.

I do understand this tshirt now though...

The movie was adapted from a novel entitled 'Oil!' and follows the character Daniel Plainview in his quest to be the biggest oilman, and crush anyone who tries to compete or get in his way. While searching for gold, he discovers his first well, and changes his career. While at that well, one of his partners dies, and he adopts his infant child. He uses his adopted son to promote a family image when buying oil rights from farmers.

It's not a fast paced movie I will admit, but I still enjoyed it, definitely a full blown drama, and I don't remember if he won, but Daniel-Day Lewis deserved an award for his performance.

I'd recommend this one, but also pass along a warning about what they should expect.

Enjoy your weekend,

ciao!

Cloverfield and Hawtie Odette Yustman

Before I show you a picture of the beautiful h.a.w.t.i.e. I just discovered after watching Cloverfield. I wanted to share a clip from Shanghai Knights.

Last weekend, I had to run by Target to buy dog treats, so as usual I browsed through their DvD section. I have also been on the hunt for a certain weather alert radio and I was hoping they had it(they didn't). I always check movies at Target, because they usually have a good selection on sale. Low and behold, I found a 2 disc set, of Shanghai Noon, and Shanghai Knights, you remember the Owen Wilson / Jackie Chan buddy comedy set in the old west. They were selling both packaged in one case for only $9. I watched both movies back to back, it had been awhile and I had forgotten about this scene (luckily you can find just about anything on youtube). The scene is from the second movie, and the random guy part cracks me up.

Yesterday I also received two movies from Netflix.
  1. Cloverfield
  2. There Will Be Blood
I played some GTA IV, before throwing one of these into the DvD player and I chose Cloverfield. I fell in love about 5 minutes into the movie, and I'd like to introduce her to everyone ;-)

Odette Yustman born May 10, 1985
According to the actress, her mother, Lydia, is Cuban, and her father, Victor Yustman, who is of Italian and French descent, was born in Bogota, Colombia and raised in Nicaragua. Yustman is fluent in Spanish.

I am ok with the age difference, so don't judge us in our happiness........

Lizzy Caplan ... Marlena
Jessica Lucas ... Lily
T.J. Miller ... Hud
Michael Stahl-David ... Rob Hawkins
Mike Vogel ... Jason Hawkins
Odette Yustman ... Beth McIntyre

Well, I'm sure most of you saw previews or heard about this movie. The whole thing is shot in first person, as in someone holding a camcorder. Think Blair Witch, but not in the woods, and not a evil scary witch.

The movie starts with a scene between Rob and my girl Beth. Also filmed on the same camera. We then jump to a time in the future, where Rob's friends are planning a surprise going away party. Rob has just got a job in Japan. The character Hud who I found annoying, gets roped into filming goodbye testimonials to Rob during the party. In comes Mrs Rain King, I mean Beth, with some dude. We find out Rob and Beth have been friends for years, he has always been in love with her (but is mad because I won't share). During the party they have a fight relating to that opening scene, all filmed, and she ends up leaving with above mentioned date. Later during the party, what seems like an earthquake hits, so everyone rushes to the roof for a better view. They soon discover its not a quake, but more like a giant monster out of a Godzilla movie attacking the city.

There is a mad rush to get off the island of Manhattan, and Rob receives a call from Beth. She is trapped, in her apartment (the opposite direction towards said monster). The movie unfolds as Rob and his friends, camera in tow, make their way back towards danger to save Beth, not even knowing if she is still alive.

I have to admit this was a good movie. The whole first person thing wasn't that annoying (just the nonstop talking of the character filming was). I liked how during the movie, they would stop the current recording for various reasons, and we would see the tape Hud was filming over. It chronicled that same day the movie opened with, where Rob and my hawtie Beth spent a whole day together at Coney Island.

I'd recommend this one.

What a Scam!!

So, for those of you who read this on a regular basis, you know I am planning a trip back to Sicily, been talking to a couple friends there, and spent a few months after the last trip putting together a fancy DvD slideshow/movie. I have pasted links to a much shorter version here, but the real one is a 45 minute long show, and the DvD plays like a movie, with chapters by location, menus, titles, credits, and turned out pretty good. The first step making it was collecting copies of everyone who went on the trip's pictures. Once that was done (I had to give them a deadline), I then had to sort each person's pics, rename them, pick out the best ones, and retouch those if needed. Next I created the title pages. I found a cool tutorial on a chalkboard text effect, which gave me an idea. As the show plays, when we change locations a picture of a chalkboard acts as a separator. Instead of just one shot, I created an individual picture of each letter. For example, if we were in Venice (also note I used the Italian location names, so Venice=Venezia) Anyway, I created a picture of the chalkboard with a V, then another with an e and so on to spell out the word. When I created the show, I used the timeline to shorten the (duh) time of these shots, so it appeared as someone was writing, in chalk, the location. I then had to arrange the pictures into the show, pick out music, and 'publish' it into a movie. The music part took awhile to decide on middle of the road, not too crazy so the old folks watching it covered their ears while they looked at pictures of Cinque Terra, but had to listen to Godsmack. That actually would have been kind of funny.

After all that was done, I used a different program to create the DvD menus. Then start making copies. When my parents have their 'wrap-up' party on July 5th, anyone who can make it from the travel group, will drive over socialize, and sit down to watch the show. They get a copy of the movie, another DvD I combined everyone's pictures on (includes the music used, and pictures I created for the show), also their original cd's back they sent me. Did I mention I was going to cook a few Italian dishes for that party as well?

Ok, so to the subject of today's post. I had to make about 18 copies of the show, everyone who sent me their pictures, gets a movie back. I also made a copy for my friend Ciro (pronounced Cheer-o, in Italian, a C followed by a vowel is 'ch' like ciao=chow, or for the ppl in KS, Cinzetti's is not 'Sin-Zetties', it is 'Chin-sett-ies'). Ciro was our guide in Sicily for both trips, and an all around great guy. He is the one who offered me room and board for the next trip with his family. I'll talk a little more about his email yesterday in a sec.

Ciro also works at the tourism board in Palermo, so he does the guide thing on the side. He wanted copies of the pictures at the winery, to possibly use in a brochure. So when we were there he pointed out shots he wanted and I took them with my camera. Both trips to Sicily, I spent most of my time talking to him. So I made an extra copy of the movie and the pictures dvd for him.

I have also been talking to his friend Gino, and Ciro's best friends daughter. Her birthday is next month so in the package I added a present for her.

Now for the scam.....
I stop by the UPS (what can brown overcharge you for?) to send this package to Palermo, Sicily. The lady behind the counter chuckled a little when I said overseas to Sicily. She measured the box, weighed it, put in the address, and said...
"To send it through us only (being UPS) which includes the tracking, insurance, etc, it will be ninety-nine dollars. To send it through the USPS (that's US postal service) it will be $54. I would suggest if you want to send it through USPS, to go there, to avoid our fees."

I had to ask if I heard her right. Which she then gave me the rising gas prices reason, blah, blah blah. Personally, if you think you can pass that cost along to me, I think it's BS. I'll save that for another day.

I told her I would pass and left the store. By this time I wasn't going to make it to the Post Office, I still had to stop and get more cotton swabs to clean the dogs ears with (yuck). So I called my Mom to tell her about this outrage. She said she was going this morning to mail something to my Aunt (her side of the family) and would send it for me. Here is the big finish.

She just sent me a text message and said to ship it from the Post office.... $15.26 for 5-10 day shipping. Someone needs to let UPS know I guess.

Ok, sorry about the rambling. I'll finish with a really cool part from one of the emails Ciro sent me yesterday.

Sailing
"this company is of a friend of mine , I can ask him if you could work for some days on board : in this way you could sail without spend money!! "

That's a direct quote, but if you click the link, and don't pay attention to it being in Italian, you will see a beautiful ship. I replied and said even if means I scrub the decks, I am in!

That's enough boring you for today.

ciao a presto!

Made me chuckle..

Couple things I wanted to share that made me laugh a little when I saw them, over the last few days.

The first being on Sunday, when I went by Popeye's chicken for a Shrimp Po'Boy and Cajun rice meal. Their Cajun rice is deeelicious. It also reminds a little of when I would sneak home from college and stay with my sister down in Westport. We would always make a trip by the Popeye's so I could get some of that rice. Anyway, there was a print ad propped up next to the soda machines that made me laugh and this is what it said.

Everything
at Popeye's
has
BIG FLAVOR
(except the napkins, they
taste like napkins)

Well played Popeye's ad guys.

The other funny I saw was while reading a post on Lifehacker.com. The story is about what breaks the deal for you in a recipe. Examples included (I guess) difficult steps like separating egg yolks from the whites, or something called glove boning? I had to Google it myself to find out what the heck that is. It apparently is a method to turn a bird inside out to avoid cutting the meat, don't ask me why or how, I stopped reading about it at that point. But, before you pop some Tums in, here is what made me laugh. The post on Lifehacker was one of their what I guess you could call 'question posts' where they ask something, and everyone gives a comment. People started responding with your average stuff like (and insert 'when a recipe calls for....') 'let sit overnight' 'serves 18' etc etc. Of course with any feedback process on the internet, the comedians also comment. Of all the ones that tried to be funny, I laughed at this one...

For posterity, I will include the question.

Question: "What is a recipe deal breaker for you?"
Comment: "When I am reading the recipe and it says 'Step 2'

This made me laugh more than the ones that said 'if it is missing microwave instructions' etc, etc.

Thanks to my buddy Rubbin in OK, who left another comment. He just sent an email a few days ago about a possible meet-up this summer. I'm not sure how else to word that. No, we aren't talking about a camping trip where it's just us and we bring our cowboy hats. Which is funny, because as soon as I typed that, I thought about a camping trip! I bought this brand new kick arse tent and haven't used it yet! Maybe a canoe float trip, hmmm.

Ok, let's watch a couple movie trailers real quick, then I gotta get some work done.

New Wall-E clip
(on the down-low, Di$ney asked the site I originally found this on to remove it, let's see if I get an email from them)

ok, that's it, enjoy your day,

Should I be embarrased?

This weekend I had a busy Saturday. I took both dogs to the vet, and that is always an ordeal. I know Barkley loves car rides, JayJay I am not as sure. She refuses to lay down in the car, and I just can't tell if she would have preferred staying home! It was time to get their nails trimmed, Barkley needed a follow up heart worm test, and I wanted the Doc to check both of their ears. Last time I was there we had a scare when Barkley's initial test came back with a chance of heart worms, but when they sent the test to the actual lab it came back negative. They have this little plastic thingy that looks like a pregnancy test, where if it turns a certain color there was a positive or negative result. The good news is this time the test they did at the vet came back a negative, so he is in the clear. A couple weeks ago, JayJay was having an ear problem, so I stopped and bought some cleaner, I won't complain about it costing $20, or that it is cucumber melon scented, because my dogs are worth every penny I spend on them. Barkley started shaking his head too, and after the surgery on his ear for the hematoma (sp?) which is like a blood blister, I tried cleaning his ears too. I wasn't seeing any problems, but I could tell he was bothered, so off to the vet the first chance we got. It is like forcing a kid (I imagine) to eat vegetables, but worse trying to clean a dogs ears. I have to hold them down, and I don't mind the gross factor of rubbing around in their ear with a cotton ball/pad, but it is getting to where they see the bag of cotton swabs and they run away. Almost like when I start prepping the bathroom for their baths. The prep being laying towels all over the place, covering the TV and other electronics with a sheet, closing the door to the bedroom and office (Barkley loves jumping onto the bed after a bath, and passing on that wet dog smell. Anyway, on Saturday the vet confirmed Barkley had a minor infection, and sold me some ear drops I have used before on him. I feel bad because I can tell his ear is bugging him, but all I can do is keep cleaning it once a day.

Barkley
Laying in the backseat of my old Grand Cherokee, which I had thrown down a blanket to keep his fur off the seats. This is one of my favorite pics of him, and when I took it I was surprised to see it turn out so well (I took a couple). I didn't even look in the back, I pointed the camera, while driving between the front seats and caught this shot.

My mom came up and met me at the vet office, a little late, but she came because it is kind of hard to control them if they are busy at the vet's office. Also, after their appointment, we planned on taking them (the dogs) on an extended walk over in Heritage Park. I was shocked at how out of shape my dogs are. Usually when we walk around the neighborhood, at first they are pulling me, then towards the end, I'm almost dragging them. I actually stopped a couple times on the path hoping they would lay down and catch their breath. I couldn't find their collapsible water bowl, but we maybe only walked an hour or so, and it was really windy, not too hot. I reaped the benefits of the walk the rest of the weekend, they were both so exhausted they layed around the house most of Sunday, and the rest of Saturday.

Here is a weird question to ask, and kind of personal. The, I guess you call them tech, at the veterinarian's office made me think a little. You know the person who walks you back to the exam room, and helps the actual Dr. At the dentist they might be called a hygienist, or at the family practice a nurse? Anyway, we got to talking, she was on the cute side I admit, but anyway it seemed we had allot in common. After my Mom arrived and came into the room, I gave her a scolding about Petco stores and their habit of selling puppies from puppy mills. When the tech came back in, and we were talking even more that issue came up, and I found out she is a vegetarian, seems to be into animal rights, and volunteers at a animal shelter here in the area. Deja Vu, for me. It seems she also has allot in common with my ex, the one I lived with for 8 years. Besides my mom sitting there, this made me question myself, as I admit I considered inviting her out for a drink/movie/coffee/sky diving, ok, maybe not that last one. Leave me a comment on what you think. It's not like I was comparing her to the ex, but is it a good thing or would it turn out bad, her having so much in common (it seems) with my ex?

JayJay
I just can't get her to pose for pictures like Barkley does. When she sees the camera pointed towards her, she gets shy for some reason.

Ok, now for the subject of the post...

I admit I played a bunch of Grand Theft Auto IV on the PS3 this weekend, I was getting into the storyline, and not having anything exciting to watch (I'll discuss DvD's below). I knew I needed to run a couple errands. I talked myself out of hitting best buy for a movie, borders for who knows what, and even target to just browse around. I decided on Bed, Bath, and Beyond, to look for that hard to find zester gadget. If you remember a recipe I recently made called for lemon zest. All I had was a cheese shredder, which gave poor results, so I decided to purchase one made for that specific task.

Here is where the subject question comes into play. Should I be embarrassed that I really like this store as much as I do? I mean, is it a little feminine that I could fill up a couple shopping carts every trip if money wasn't an object? Not to take anything away from their store, because if there was a different one that didn't have all the bedding, and other assorted stuff on the opposite side of the store, I would be addicted to it instead. Where I spend my time at BB&B is the kitchen gadgets, and appliances sections. I almost bought two different kinds of garlic slicers, before I talked myself out of either of them. I admit it's because I enjoy cooking so much, I look forward to the kitchen at my next house. A counter top full of appliances, and drawers full of gadgets, like a plastic wheel, when you load it with a garlic clove and roll it on the counter, it chops up above mentioned garlic. I ended up buying a zester, a cooking utensil container, and a trivet that could also work as decoration. It was a tile deal with a painting of some kitchen stuff, and it said Cucina Italiana (which means Italian Kitchen). If you clink the links above, the zester I bought looks just like that, but its not a slim blade, its wider, same brand though. The trivet link takes you to an example, I couldn't find the exact one, but it looks sort of like that, not wine bottles though.

The last thing I'll write about is the 3 movies I am sending back to Netflix this morning.
  1. The Hottest State
  2. The Claim
  3. Battlestar Galactica: Razor
I wasn't impressed that much with the first two.

The Hottest State
, was adapted from a book written by Ethan Hawke (who also directed, and did the screenplay). It was about an actor who falls in love with a singer in NY. Their relationship is pretty rocky because she moved to the city to make her career, and be on her own, so she doesn't want to be attached.

The Claim, was set during the gold rush in the harsh Sierra Nevada mountains. A small town named 'Kingdom Come' welcomes in the survey crew from the railroad who are deciding if the tracks will make a stop in their small town. A huge plus for any town of those times. At the same time, a mother daughter arrives who have a connection to the town's founder, and sort of man in charge.

The third one was a movie released to get the fans through the break between season 3 and the final season (airing now). I was hugely disappointed in this. Not the movie, but the fact when the disc tried to access the DvD menu, I got an error message, saying it could not be played. I reported the problem to Netflix and shipped it back as well today, requesting a replacement.

Ok, that's enough for today. Leave me a comment on if I should be embarrassed about my Bed Bath and Beyond addiction, or your opinion on dating similar people.

ciao!

Slacking

Yes, I know, I missed a couple days. I think I'll keep this short, and write next week, but it seems every morning I have been busy, and needed a couple days off from writing.

So, this doesn't really count as a new post, but just wanted to let the people who read this know I should have some new stuff next week.

ciao!

Blah...

Sorry for the late afternoon post. Ever have one of those days where you just don't feel like doing anything? I mean not even showering, leaving the house, or even turning on the TV. I think I'm almost there. Maybe I need a vacation in a bad way. I did talk to my Army buddy in NY, the one who works with Blackhawk helicopters this past weekend. I have never met him in person, but we became pretty good buddies back when I was online gaming. His name is Rob, and I consider him a close friend, even though he is out in NY. We talked a little about when I do go back to Sicily, I could schedule a couple extra days there. To be honest, the little kid in me would be excited to get a chance to see a Blackhawk up close. I think I might need something sooner though, to get my mind straight, and maybe lower my blood pressure a bit. Not that it's high, but every once in awhile I feel like just grabbing my dogs, a change of clothes, and disappearing for a few weeks.

I'm not going to post too much today, in fact just one thing.
If you have a google account, and a cellphone, head over to google mobile apps to check out some cool free services. There is even an interactive demo on that link, that lets you try out some test SMS messages. For example.... if you send google mobile a text message that says "weather overland park" weather being the keyword, you get a reply text message with the forecast. There are plenty of other cool things like maps, calculators, translators, etc etc.

ok, due to my mood, that's all I feel like typing today, sorry.

ciao!

Busy Weekend!

I tried posting Friday as I sat at the DMV waiting to renew my tags, but I accidentally typed the whole post in the wrong field, and didn't feel like re-typing it. But since my outlook here at work messed up, I'm waiting on the helpdesk to fix it, so I have a few minutes.

Here is what I typed Friday.
'I am posting this from my phone, so I'm sorry if there are typos. So I'm sitting here at the DMV, I am renewing my car tags. I'm stuck sitting on the floor against the wall. I pulled ticket no. 553 when I got here and they were on #507 when I got here. I am meeting some buddies for lunch and a beer or two at noon before we head to the golf range for a 2pm tee time and 18 holes. This place is a zoo, the people watching a person could do here. Across from are two women that must be on a break from ____ (insert trashy strip club). One of them is wearing a pair of shorts, way too short for her figure. Both have tattoo's all over, that don't look like they put any thought into how permanent they are. On top of that, she has this retractable id badge holder thing, but instead of a badge, she has a bic lighter at the end of it!! For the last 15 minutes I have watched these two kids whose parents must be asleep, but probably just don't care, pushing the buttons on the ticket machine, which spits out a new ticket/number everytime they do. This place is so crowded that ppl are just standing around all over the place. I can't imagine working here, I would go over the edge after one day. I would be an alcoholic for sure.

ciao a presto!'

So after I sat there for almost 2 hours, I had enough time to go by the driving range, then meet my friends for lunch. Once my cousin got there, we headed off to play golf. I played a pretty good round for me, seeing how I am still learning. I had a couple great swings, even had a birdie opportunity a couple times! A highlight was when I hit my first house! It was a par 5, and my first shot sliced and I could hear it bounce off some idiot's roof. I saw idiot, because I have never understood people who build on a golf course. Maybe if the houses weren't so close, I'd understand.

Saturday morning, I woke up early, and drove over to my parents to mow. This time, I avoided the near death spot from two weeks ago. I finished around 2 in the afternoon, rushed home to shower and relax. That night I went to see Greg Giraldo perform his stand up comedy. There were about 5 of us total, and I had a great time. The show started late, and I didn't get home til after 1am, but a good time had by all. I drank quite a few beers that night, but stopped about 30 minutes before the end of the show, and wasn't feeling anything except tired on the drive home.

Sunday, I ran into town to order a couple books, bought a new one, even though I have plenty to read already. I grabbed lunch and went home. I finished watching season 3 of Battlestar Galactica, and made Rachel Ray's 'Chicago Dog Salad' I put a little twist on it of course and brought it into work today for lunch.

Well, I have some things to do here, and that about wraps up my three day weekend. I hope everyone else had a great time.

Big hello goes to my buddy Mike in Oklahoma who left a comment on a post last week. He is a great guy, and one of the smartest I have ever met around a computer.

ciao!
