Sorry for the long subject, but this will truly be a wrap-up post!
First up, did anyone else watch the finals yesterday and the performance Tiger Woods put in this weekend? Saturday he had two eagles to take a lead. Sunday he loses it, and is going into the final hole, even par, and behind the leader by 1. So he needs a birdie to force a tie/playoff. I have to admit, it is hard to not cheer for Rocco Mediate, who he was trying to catch. Ranked something like 158, he would have been the oldest, and highest ranked player to ever win the US Open. After two bad shots, Tiger needs to sink a 12 foot putt to force the playoff. Sure enough, he drains it (well, it was pretty close), and the 18 hole playoff is today. Swing by ESPN to read the full writeup. If you have time, watch the video's of Tiger's amazing shots this weekend.
The next exciting bit of possible news relates to my Tarheels. What a roller coaster the NBA draft has caused this year. With three of our stars (Hansborough was quick to declare he was staying) Ty Lawson, Wayne Ellington, and Danny Green all 'tested the waters'. Well today is the final day to back out, or leave their names in the draft. This latest report from my favorite fan site says he has heard from a source all three will return!!! This is awesome news for me.
Quick rant thrown in there, I don't want anyone thinking I'm actually in a good mood, that would ruin my image.
I remember growing up, suffering through cologne/perfume ads. They were always cheezy attempts at new age art and horrid. Well seems like every commercial break nowadays, we don't get killed with them, which is great, but one does seem to be played allot. The Polo Black ad, now, don't get me wrong, when I have it, I like using a dab of smell good stuff, and I have purchased Polo Black in the past. Here is my issue. This model they use for the ad....c'mon, seriously? Now I'm completely straight, but most guys can at least admit if another dude can pull the women, or he needs a bank roll to meet ladies. This guy in the ad, I have a feeling he doesn't need cologne, any brand of it, to have women drool when they see him.
Next up, are a couple really good videos.
The first is making waves from the new Weezer album. My favorite track from the cd is number 2 entitled 'Troublemaker', but this video and the song are definitely either tied or in second place. The video is for the song 'Pork & Beans' and it's a huge hit on youtube. Maybe because the video guest features youtube user 'stars' like the dude crying about Britney, or my favorite the Peanut Butter Jelly time banana. Go here to watch, I would have embedded it here, but they disabled it.
The second one if you watch it, offer up your take on it in comments. People who watched it over on youtube (this one is also disabled to embed), are discussing who the panel of people are. Is the parents of the bully, or the kid being picked on? I realized I already had a couple of this bands songs, and I really enjoy this new one. The band is named Tokyo Police Club, and the video is for the song 'Tessellate' which means "To form into a mosaic pattern, as by using small squares of stone or glass." Jump here to watch the video.
I didn't accomplish too much this weekend. Saturday I watched some TV, spent time with the dogs, and then Sunday took my Dad to breakfast. Afterwards, my sister was taking him to lunch, so I rode with my Mom over to the US Toy company, to show her where it was, and look for Bingo cards for their Fourth of July party.
I'm swamped, so that's all you get today. Just a last note. Be Kind, Rewind, is being released tomorrow on DvD. I will probably blindly buy this one, Mos Def, and Jack Black, I don't think will disappoint.
ciao!
